Architect <> Industrializer Relationship. A communication to be opened

The relationship between the architect and the industrializer must evolve towards an early, strategic and bidirectional collaboration, breaking the traditional model where the designer designs and then looks for who builds. In the context of industrialized construction, this alliance is a fundamental paradigm shift, where fluid communication allows the integration of the manufacturing logic from the initial sketch. Perhaps the Key Axes of the Relationship are based on integration from the Design Phase (Early Collaboration) where the industrializer must act as a technical advisor in the conception stage to optimize the design, ensuring that it is feasible, sustainable and efficient in production. Perhaps this “Real-Time” and digitized communication could be equipped with a shared use of BIM (Building Information Modelling) models where it is essential for both parties to coordinate the precision of the parts, avoiding errors in manufacturing (prefabrication) and assembly. Perhaps we should move from “Competition” to “Co-creation”, where the architect provides aesthetic, functional and design value, while the industrializer provides product knowledge, standardization and efficiency in processes. This union would allow creativity to be balanced with technical feasibility. Precision and level of detail or transparency in the process would generate benefits from this New Relationship. Cost and Lead Time Reduction, Controlled Quality, Sustainability… In short, the “communication to be opened” is not only a technical dialogue, but an alliance of value in which the architect designs with production in mind and the industrializer manufactures with architecture in mind.
