Towards a Spanish seal of industrialized wood construction

Thu 26 Mar | 10:45 - 11:30

Industrialised wood construction in Spain is going through a moment of transformation, moving towards the consolidation of quality systems that guarantee sustainability, energy efficiency and speed, with the aim of establishing a “seal” or certification specific to the sector. Leading companies and associations are driving the adoption of regulations and standards, including technical wood (CLT), BIM methodology and Lean Construction, to move away from traditional construction to an industrialized model. The creation of a specific Spanish seal for industrialised timber construction is based on the need to ensure quality in construction, a market that, according to recent data, is expected to double its activity by 2026. Industrialized construction has the goal of reaching 10% of wood in construction in the next seven years, driven by the need for faster and more sustainable solutions to the housing crisis. Investment in this sector is growing, with initiatives such as the manufacture of wooden “kits”, similar to industrial models, which allow greater customization and a more certain price. Is zero-kilometre wood going to be a requirement, or an advantage?
