Volver a Blog In Memoriam. Oriol Bohigas City and Architecture febrero 14, 2022 Between the last edition of REBUILD and this one we have had two losses. On the one hand, Ricardo Bofill Leví, who in 1963 founded a group formed by architects, engineers, sociologists and philosophers, laying the foundations of an international team with more than 40 years of experience in urban design, architecture, park and garden design, and interior design, opening a second office in Paris in 1978. And on the other hand, Oriol Bohigas, who exercised his intellectual leadership in the so-called Gauche Divine, was Urban Planning Delegate of the first democratic city council of Barcelona, defining the three great ideas that transformed the city: recovering the sea, monumentalising the periphery, and sanitising the old quarter. A founding member of the publishing group Edicions 62, he was president of the Joan Miró Foundation, and was elected Councillor for Culture of Barcelona City Council, a post he held until 1994. He was appointed Professor Emeritus by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and Doctor Honoris Causa by the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Menéndez y Pelayo University. This edition, an In Memoriam session will be held with his son: Josep Bohigas. Our way of doing justice to those who formalised a different architecture and a different way of understanding the city.
