Towards zero demand/zero consumption

Thu 23 Sep | 15:30 - 16:30

For the first time in REBUILD, the role of engineering and installations in a building will be studied. It is important to know that more than 35% of the budget of a construction corresponds to the installations and that its incidence in the project and in the work is only surpassed by the sensation of comfort that the user will have when using that space.

In the first Engineering Summit, organised jointly with the ACI of Madrid, the binomial Consumption and Demand is going to focus, in this post-COVID-19 era, all architectural and constructive policy and exercise around housing and districts, whether new or to be refurbished, and in a totally different way to that used until now.

The Engineering Summit will be accompanied by the morning of Instal-Pro, the Installer’s Day, a full day on MEP, the field of Mechanical-Electrical-Pumbling.

This first session of the Engineering Summit will show the trend at European level towards the so-called Nearly Zero Consumption Buildings or ECCP, a stage before Zero Consumption Buildings and these in turn are the stage before Self-Sufficient or Positive Production Buildings.

Technologies already allow us to approach any of these stages and it is now in the hands of the public or private developers themselves to indicate which of them we want to move towards.

We are on a road of no return. Our environmental commitment can no longer be reversed. And Facilities Engineering can offer us a totally different way of working when the project aims to achieve minimum consumption.
