Producing Housing. Industrial experiences
Between prefabricated and traditional construction sites, the concept of production fades away without us being able to tell whether industrialized housing, prefabricated bungalows or classic construction sites have better productivity. The difference is simple: the building is constructed in a warehouse and moved – whole or divided into a few parts – to a site where it is fitted out or handled in modules that are then assembled and combined in what will be its final location. They are assembled and elaborated between 100%, 80%, or … in their factories and they finish off the remaining percentage on site. At the moment its weight in the sector, industrialized housing represents 1% of the total, light years away from 90% in Sweden, 50% in Holland and very far from the percentages of other European countries such as Germany (9%) or the United Kingdom (7%). What is clear, however, is that they form a new productive sphere in which industry plays a different role. The main role. Through new industrial experiences, we will get a glimpse of what they can contribute to the sector.
