We will learn about the latest advances in research in the field of energy, presenting the most innovative technological solutions resulting from technology transfer in the energy sector. Thermal insulation is the first step to prevent heat and cold losses, improve the comfort of a building and save energy, followed by action on roofs, windows, and opaque enclosures. This will result in more efficient and sustainable buildings. 75% of the building stock in the EU is inefficient from the energy perspective. The European Union has its eye on the ecological transition and the decarbonization of our buildings, and that is key. As early as February 2020, the European Commission launched a document whose title was a declaration of intent: In focus: the energy efficiency of buildings. In it, it argued that approximately 75% of the EU building stock is inefficient from the energy perspective, and that renovating it could reduce total energy consumption by 6% and cut CO2 emissions by approximately 5%. However, on average, less than 1% of the national building stock is renovated each year (depending on the Member State, the percentages range from 0.4% to 1.2%). Much work remains to be done!
