Design for Madera. DfMAD

This session aims to build on lessons learned on how to promote and facilitate the deployment of BIM and DfMA in the timber context. The objectives of the session will be to explore BIM tools and software platforms that support collaboration and optimization of design solutions, as well as to enable seamless information exchange in the context of DfMA of mass timber solutions; to investigate the potential impact of the use of BIM tools and software platforms on the project and team outcomes in the context of wood construction; to investigate how the modeling process can be simplified to minimize waste and optimize the DfMA process in the context of wood construction; to investigate the willingness of manufacturers and installers/assemblers to provide BIM data for their products and systems; and to propose recommendations for positioning the supply chain to design, manufacture and assemble wood structures as well as to identify future training requirements for BIM and DfMA in the context of wood construction.
