We could conceive our buildings as a “material bank” so that the materials themselves are able to be maintained and revalued. Could the materials used in the construction of a building be a profitable investment over time? The book “Materia” by Picharchitects will be presented, which reflects on resources and their path towards a circular economy. The publication has been the subject of a study in which the long-term profitability of the materials used in the construction with circular economy techniques – as an alternative investment to conventional investments – has been estimated by projecting the residual value of the materials in the construction of a building already built. Investment, revaluation, reuse, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) will be discussed.
