There is no doubt how important the sun and light are for architecture. But at the same time, their control and management are still important. Depending on the time of the year in which we are, we will need more or less heat provided by the sun. We will also have to pay special attention to the different orientations of the facades of our house and we will have to have systems or resources that allow us to control the amount of solar energy received by our buildings or our homes. These solar control devices can be grouped according to their position with respect to the defining planes of the architectural space and in particular of the facade. Consequently, we find horizontal and vertical control systems and their possible combinations. In this session, we will learn about the main architectural and technological solutions, as well as those related to new materials and solutions with non-architectural devices.
