The AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation) sector linked to Safety and Health, is witnessing accelerated changes. The ILO (International Labour Organization) estimates that around 2.3 million women and men worldwide succumb to work-related accidents or illnesses every year; which corresponds to more than 6,000 deaths every day. Worldwide, there are about 340 million occupational accidents and 160 million victims of occupational diseases per year. The ILO updates these estimates and the updates indicate an increase in accidents and diseases. The estimated fatal occupational accidents in the CIS countries alone exceed 11,000 cases per year. One of the main conclusions of the latest ILO statistical data on occupational accidents and diseases and work-related fatalities worldwide is that “the construction industry has a disproportionately high rate of recorded accidents”. In fact, in Spain every day there are 334 construction accidents and one death every two days. Something that BIM can avoid when it is introduced into prevention mechanisms. Designing interiors in a good way is fundamental.
